This is an interesting and varied part time post for about 15 hours per week, working mainly from home, offering the chance to enable the team of parish councillors to deliver real benefits to our community. Training can be provided if required. The pay will be in line with the national salary scheme for clerks, based on experience.
Our meetings take place on the first Tuesday evening of each month.
The Clerk’s duties include preparation of Agendas and Minutes, correspondence and other general administrative duties, liaison with the City and County Councils and other organisations.
The Parish Clerk is also the Responsible Financial Officer, and as such will be required to undertake the bookkeeping and preparation of annual accounts and returns.
Candidates should be able to work on their own initiative and will need to have good literacy, numeracy and IT skills and the use of a car.
Because of today's increasing dependence on email and web-based services, IT skills are particularly important.
We hope to be able to make an appointment quite soon, to enable a smooth hand-over from the current Parish Clerk, but there could be some flexibility over dates for the right candidate.
If you have any further queries or wish to submit your CV by email, please contact Adrian Walmsley. If you don't receive an acknowledgement within 48 hours, please follow up with a phone call in case your email was delayed or intercepted by a spam filter.
You can find out more about the activities of the Parish Council on this website (whose design admittedly is overdue for an overhaul).
