COMPTON FOOTBALL CLUB 1994-95 Annual Report

Compton Football Club had a successful 1994/5 season with pride of place going to the 1st Team in the Hampshire League and the Under 14's in the Southampton TYRO League.

The 1st Team headed Division 3 of the Hampshire League for most of the season but were pipped at the post for the title in a very close contest with only two points separating the top three clubs. Teams in Division 2 have been warned that we intend to be first next season.

After a difficult start, the Under 14 Team enjoyed a good season and finished third in Division 4 of the Southampton TYRO League and have been promoted. They also competed in an International Youth Tournament in Holland in May and played very well to win the Bronze Medal.

Our 2nd Team struggled in Division 2 of the Southampton League and finished 2nd from the bottom of the League and were relegated. The 3rd Team played in Division 7 of the Southampton League and finished just below halfway. The Under 18's had a difficult first season in the County Youth League as most of our players were under 17 and had no experience of playing County football but things improved a lot towards the end of the Reason. We should do better next season.

For the 1995/6 season John Judd has stepped down as Chairman after 5 years hard work, for personal reasons, but will still be involved with the club. Our new Chairman is Ron Whitaker.

Our 1st Team will be playing in Division 2 of the Hampshire League, the 2nd Team will be in Division 3 of the Southampton League and the 3rd Team (mainly veterans) will be playing in Division 2 of the Winchester League. Our Youth teams will be the Under 18's playing in Division 3 of the Hampshire County Youth League and Under 15's playing in Division 3 of the Southampton TYRO League.

Training commences on Tuesday 4th July 1995 at the Sports Ground in Shepherds Lane from 7.15pm and will be held every Tuesday (not 11th July) and Thursday. We welcome new members of all age groups either as players or supporters to help on match days. You do not have to be an active player to come to training or to join the Football Club.
