CASCANovember 2008CASCACouncillor Miller announced that the CASCA AGM will take place at 7.00pm on 19 November and the CASCA party on 5 December. She hoped that the Council would be well represented at both events. The party would provide an opportunity for parishioners to preview the proposed equipment for the Compton Play Area and plans. October 2008CASCA Christmas PartyCouncillor Millar reported that the Compton and Shawford Community Association AGM would be held in the Parish Hall on Wednesday 19 November and the Christmas Party on Friday 5 December. It was hoped that both events would be well attended. The latter, particularly, as it is a very jolly occasion and a good way for new residents to meet members of the community. November 2007Parish HallCllr. Jean Millar reported upon the continuing success of Shawford Parish Hall. Takings for the hiring of the Hall are very healthy, so much so that it may not be necessary for the Parish Council to make a contribution to the Parish Hall Sinking Fund in the Financial Year 2008 - 2009. Such a reduction in anticipated costs to the Parish Council could reduce the amount of Precept claimed from Winchester City Council. Cllr. John Richardson will discuss the matter with the Chairman and Treasurer of CASCA to clarify the situation before submission of the proposed Budgets to the Parish Council in December. January 2007CASCA Christmas Party and Parish PlanThe Parish Council was pleased to note the excellent turnout for the CASCA Christmas Party, and will write to congratulate Peter Betts and his Parish Plan committee for their progress to date and for preparing the exhibits which were on display at the CASCA party. March 2006CASCACouncillor Jean Millar reported upon CASCA and in particular the unfortunate need to cancel the planned Quiz Evening. Cancellation was necessary due to the lack of support for the event. Discussions suggested that the lack of support may be due to the many other events that have been organised recently. The Quiz had been very popular in previous years but perhaps now needs more active promotion, and it is hoped that with the development of new housing, new residents within the Parish might engender fresh enthusiasm for such events. February 2005CASCACllr. Jean Millar reported that Mr. John Griffith had agreed to take on the role of Chairman of CASCA. The Parish Council expressed their pleasure over such an appointment, which has alleviated what would otherwise have been a difficult situation for the future of CASCA. |
