Winchester City Council, the only agency who can change road names within the Parish, has taken on the responsibility for the naming of Bridge/Hunts lane. They will be writing to residents on this matter.
The questionnaire on the naming of Bridge/Hunts lane has been collated. There were 11 returns of which 7 favoured Bridge Lane. This represents a majority of the votes cast but not a majority of residents. Winchester City Council is being consulted as to whether these numbers are sufficient to confirm the name of the road.
Councillors agreed to notify residents of Hunts/Bridge Lane of procedures to be followed by Winchester City Council when naming a road. Residents would be asked to respond to the Parish Council on a reply slip attached to the letter stating their road name preference.
In a Police report it was suggested that
from the emergency services perspective it
would be helpful if Hunts/Bridge Lane - as
with all roads in the Parish - were formally
named and signed.
