There were a record 344 entries for
the Annual
Show of the Shawford & Compton
Horticultural
Society which was held on Saturday
21st August. As the Shawford Parish Hall is closed for renovation, the event, which proved to be the best show yet, was switched to Shepherds Down School. The winner of the Kelmscot Rose Bowl for the most points overall was Andrea Robertson with Jo Pitt receiving the Wilmshurst Cup for the best individual exhibit in the show. The president, George Beckett, also presented the following trophies to the section winners: The Roberts Trophy for vegetables Henry West; a Society plate for fruit Joan Brice; The Dawson Cup for flowers Jo Pitt; The Smith Bradbeer Cup for flower arranging Penny Neyroud; The Kelmscot Vase for the best garden Jill Coleman; The Attwood Cup for homecraft Muriel Wilmshurst |
